Zhangjiagang gets approval for robot industrial park
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has approved an application to set up a robot industrial park in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province.
The park is located in Zhangjiagang Economic & Technological Development Zone. Enterprises such as Nachi-Fujikoshi Group from Japan, ESAB welding & cutting group from Britain, Xianfeng Machine and Gangxing Ultrasonic have opened branches in the park, all of which are companies focusing on robot or robot parts manufacturing.
There are also research centers in the park, including the Harbin Institute of Technology’s Intelligent Equipment and New Material Technology Industrialization Research Center and the Nanjing University of Science & Technology Engineering and Technology Institute.
The development zone will promote the robot industry in the following years. According to the plan, the total assets of the industry will reach 6 billion yuan ($980.8 million) in 2016 and increase to 20 billion yuan in 2020.
